1. Open a terminal window (e.g. xfce4-terminal)
2. Type in the following an press [Enter]

This issue is still reproducible on Ubuntu Saucy. After installing the -dbg package, I got the following backtrace when attempting to start the game through gdb.

Yo Frankie! need Blender 2.49a and the package in Ubuntu 12.04 is 2.62 .
To run the game you need to download Blender 2.49a separately and the game from here https://apricot.blender.org/download/ and skip what's in the repository altogether.
