package yiff-server 2.14.5-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Ubuntu 8.10: The error occurs whenever I update or install packages on my computer using synaptic or any other package installer. I can even see an error when I boot up my system via the Linux console startup message that states yiff sound server cannot be started or is in use by another process. Please help me, I am paranoid when it comes to stuff like this.
