I have no clues, am just a user, but since a massive up date a few days ago EVERYTHING seems to be taking it in turns to crash - and Evolution is useless! Just a menace as is downloading emails I can't open

Aine Pedersen (aine-pedersen) wrote : Re: [Bug 180631] Re: yelp crashed with SIGSEGV reply

I have been reduced to fetching my mail on a Windows computer,
Evolution has become completely unstable, and even when I can get it to
fetch my mail I have to press "reply" to read it as the screen is
permanently full of received mail titles. Further, the printer driver
has been processing the first document I tried to print after the update
for four days now. I tried switching printer for the next document I
needed, 20 hours back. It too is still being processed. About the only
thing working is the Sudoku! That's not quite fair, so far Open Office
has also been functioning correctly When Evolution comes up for a few
minutes (before it crashes again) it has started downloading and storing
about 4 of everything, and I have no idea whiether I have Feisty or
Gutsy , nor any idea of how to discover which it is. I suppose I could
try one or other and then the remaining one if that doesn't work. A
further problem arose when I tried to save my document onto a USB key to
transfer it to this computer, Ubuntu decided that the key was using
Reiserfs and it couldn't cope.. So I must leave without my printed copy
for work this evening.
Yours, somewhat frustratedly,
Aine
PS I have just tried to type in /etc/apt/sources.list on the terminal.
the only reply is "permission denied" I then tried "su", but it
refuses to accept my password, so I am afraid I am completely stumped,
now that I have taken my courage in both hands and tried to obtain the
backtrace you asked for.
