XWayland Native Game starts with blank region at top

This happens for Civilization V which runs natively on Linux (No proton). This did not happen on 22.04 or 22.10. The game runs full screen. The blank region is horizontal about the size of a menu bar and when this happens the mouse input regions is off so that you have to click well below where the rendered button is.

WORK AROUND
Pressing ALT+TAB repeatedly will eventually fix the problem and the application behaves correctly afterwards. This problem happens about 95% of the time. Sometimes the blank regions is several menu bars thick and occasionally a vertical bar also appears also.

This happens during the initial start of the game during the intro video and continues on to the game itself.
