Please make xubuntu-desktop depend on numlockx and then add the following code to /etc/lightdm/
[Seat:*]
greeter-
in order to make the numlock = on, by default, on desktop machines(
The lack of this functionality has been a constant irritant to my Microsoft Windows converts.
