Bug Description
After trying the Xfce-session, the Xubuntu-session won't come up. I can select Xubuntu-session, but after login it is still the Xfce-session. This remains after several reboots.
I solved it for me to go to TTY with Ctrl+Alt+F1, and renamed .config/xfce4 in .config/xfce4.old and after reboot
everything Xfce was back to Xubuntu 11.10 defaults
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10
Package: lightdm 1.0.1-0ubuntu6
ProcVersionSign
Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686
ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3
Architecture: i386
Date: Fri Oct 28 21:36:58 2011
InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release i386 (20111012)
ProcEnviron:
PATH=(custom, no user)
LANG=nl_NL.UTF-8
SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: lightdm
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
WORKAROUND:
Switch to a TTY, using Ctrl+Alt+F2
Login using username and password
type in the TTY:
rm ~/.config/
hit enter
type in the TTY:
rm -r ~/.cache/sessions
hit enter
The next command restarts the computer. We do not want to go back to the desktop, or you will need to do this process again.
now type:
sudo shutdown -r now
hit enter
This is going to resart your computer and reset the sessions so you can choose "Xubuntu" at login.
