Can't remove Noto Sans without xubuntu-default-settings

Bug Description

I prefer to use another font instead of what is configured as default and I would like to be able to remove the Noto Sans font from the system, however it is dependent on the fonts-noto-hinted package (and it seems to me that this package is obsolete, btw) which is dependent on xubuntu-default-settings.

Is there a way to remove this font without consequently removing xubuntu-default-settings?

I'm using Xubuntu 20.04.1 LTS.

As you noted, the xubuntu-default-settings package depends on fonts-noto-hinted. I've pushed an update for the next release to move it to Recommends (and use the appropriate package).

This bug was fixed in the package xubuntu-default-settings - 22.10.1

xubuntu-default-settings (22.10.1) kinetic; urgency=medium

  * debian/control:
    - Move Noto fonts to Recommends, switch to fonts-noto-core (LP: #1891714)
  * etc/xdg/xdg-xubuntu/Thunar/,
    - Update Thunar custom actions to current template
  * Makefile:
    - Add easier po file regeneration
