Marking as "Won't fix", since user configuration and installed applications aren't removed when upgrading. If having both applications installed at the same time produces other bugs or regressions, please file separate bugs for those.

No, you didn't get the point. ToZ does not want that the install procedure forces light-locker/screensaver on the users by default, thinking they could need it. There should be a way to select either of them, both of them, or none of them at all.

I have recently upgraded 2 systems from Xubuntu 18.04 to Xubuntu 20.04. I was using XScreenSaver on both of them. The system upgrade automatically installed or enabled Light-Locker, and then I could not unlock the system anymore. The problem is described here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/ghjztu/double_lock_screen_on_xubuntu_after_upgrading_to/

I was annoyed to hit this issue 5 months after it had been described. But I then found this bug and it turns out that it is many years old.

I still do not know why there are so many screensaver packages. I was getting 2 "screensaver" icons in XFCE even after removing package 'light-locker', so I removed package 'xscreensaver' too. It turns that there still is a third package called 'xfce4-screensaver' which seems to work fine.

It is all confusing and annoying.

True. So annoying. I will go back to Ubuntu instead, have tested it, there the screensaver works without any obvious problems.
