Bug Description

Binary package hint: xubuntu-artwork

On a post 8.10->9.04 upgrade, the usplash screen doesn't display if the system is booted with a vesa framebuffer console set to 800x600 or 1024x768 (i.e. with "vga=788" or "vga=791" added to the kernel boot line). Normal vga console displays fine.

Thanks for reporting this issue. I am unable to reproduce it, since I am unable to get a usplash screen in either Ubuntu or Xubuntu 8.10 using the vesa options at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FrameBuffer#Setting_different_framebuffer_resolutions_in_GRUB . I tested this on two hardware systems.

Were you able to see the uspash while booting 8.10 with these options? I think this is a bug against "linux" if you can.
