Maybe we can get a backport into karmic? Makes the package useless as far as I can tell... I'll attach the build output from "module-assistant auto-install xtables-addons-source" which is what the package description says to do.

I can confirm this bug. The issue is also documented in the upstream changelog: http://xtables-addons.git.sf.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=xtables-addons/xtables-addons;a=blob;hb=master;f=doc/changelog.txt
Support for Linux 2.6.31, which is the default kernel of Karmic, is only introduced in version 1.18. So either please upgrade the package from version 1.17 to 1.18 or above, or remove it from the Karmic repository, because currently it cannot be used at all and only leads to confusion.

According to Debian's BTS, this bug was fixed in xtables-addons 1.18-1, and higher versions are available in all supported Ubuntu versions. I will accordingly mark this bug as Fix Released in Ubuntu.
