Bug Description
Binary package hint: xorg
i am unable to switch display to 1023X768 after and during installation and loading of ubuntu 8.04/8.10 and Xubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 on my IBM Thinkpad R30 the graphic card used is an Trident CyberBlade Ai1 with 8 MB video memory. The cause for this is Xorg hasn't detected my graphic card or ubuntu doesn't have the required drivers in the installation CD. This has prevent the distribution and installation of ubuntu in many of the laptops used in the country (Sri-lanka) as those who have come forward to embrace the os have been formerly Windows XP users. Where as Windows XP supports this graphic card thus making the the customers who are interested in Ubuntu switch back to Windows OS.
I hope the people at Canonical gives a sound thought to this bug as it prevents potential users from embracing the Ubuntu Operating System

Your card should be supported. Here are a couple of Ubuntu forums threads that you may want to consult:
http:// ubuntuforums. org/showthread. php?t=763964& highlight= trident+ cyberblade (these instructions should work for 8.04 and 8.10)
http:// ubuntuforums. org/showthread. php?t=806835
If this works, please let us know by posting a comment.
If you are still unable to configure the card, please upload your xorg.conf as well as any error messages you are seeing on the console.
