Just did some testings.

I installed 2 different versions of ubuntu to the same system -- 6.06 and 7.04
and 7.10 kubuntu.

Only 6.06 did not shown the symptoms.

Both 7.04 and 7.10 kubuntu have the same problem.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in xorg.

Hi! I have some symptoms that may come from the same problem.
I work with intrepid ibex on the Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A 1640 (SIS 760 chipset) and sometimes i can't scroll normally (is it like a refreshing problem?) when i read text on gedit or when i use firefox. This is terribly boring and hard to use.
I also have another problem : there is always (on the left of the screen) many white and black lines appearing anormally.
I'd like to show you a screenshot but this (as the scroll bug) doesn't appear on it.
As I' m french, I tried to find a solution on the ubuntu-fr forum (http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=2282723#p2282723) but nobody could help me.
I know that SIS chipsets are quite problematics but hope someone will resolve this.
I also must tell you something : - The battery of my motherboard is down.
                                                   - When i use a 7.10 live CD, there's absolutely no problem (i even could watch a movie)
I join some files and hope this will help fix the bug.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, Intrepid is reaching EOL soon (April 2010) and Lucid's release is coming. Therefore, it's not probable that this bug wil be fixed in Intrepid. Feel free to reopen this bug if you have this problem in Karmic or higher by setting this bug's status to new.
