Binary package hint: xorg
I just installed a Xubuntu 8.04 on an Amino M 6500
As VGA card this laptop has a "Silicon Motion, Inc. SM720 Lynx3DM", X chooses the siliconmotion driver.
But The display resolution is not correct, it's always 640*480.
See this forum thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-138110.html
I think this thread is about Ubuntu 5.10, but nevertheless this bug should be fixed ;-)
I don't know if it has something to do with it, but there are problems switching from X mode to text mode via Ctrl-Alt-F(x) as well. You never see text, just black, and the system is unable to switch back to X again.
(but maybe that's another bug)
I know this is a very old laptop - but maybe someone knows how to give it a fast fix. |
