Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-savage

X (and whole system) freezes completely when OpenGL application, like glxgears or gltext screensaver is started on Ubuntu 10.04.1 and 10.10
Hardware:
FUJITSU SIEMENS Amilo K 7600 notebook with S3 Inc. VT8375 [ProSavage8 KM266/KL266] video controller (PCI ID 5333:8d04 )

This is a regression, because Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (and 8.10 and 7.10) doesn't have any problem when running OpenGL applications.
This problem disappears after installing fresh Xorg packages from https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa

Please fix this bug in stable Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - users can't use freezing Ubuntu LTS release :(

Might be a duplicate of bug 635362, although there only server crashes and not freezes are reported.

Is this still a problem with the xserver-xorg-video-savage 2.3.1-2ubuntu2.1 update from maverick-proposed?
