Bug Description
Install with all default settings using 7.10 alternate CD on a IBM Thinkpad T20 machine (I choose Danish keyboard layout but that is probably not causing the probem)
Installer runs smoothly but first run after install hangs completely: Black screen, dead keyboard.
Running:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
and choosing VESA driver fixes the problem.

It chooses the correct driver, but it fails to work for whatever the reason. Please try 8.04.1 or 8.10 alpha3 to see if it works there.
