Bug Description

Apple iMac G3 (PPC 750, 500MHz, PowerMac2,2 NewWorld, 768MB RAM).

The system was previously successfully running Jaunty and later Karmic as dual-boot with OS X 10.4 Tiger.

Attempting to install Lucid 10.04 from the PPC Live CD there is a lot of audible CD access activity but a dark blank screen after the plymouth splash.

I was able to switch to VT1 and check the logs. I found in /var/log/Xorg.0.log:

(EE) R128(0): R128CCEWaitForIdle: (DEBUG) CCE idle took i = 1025
(EE) R128(0): Idle timed out, resetting engine...

In /var/log/syslog:
