I can confirm the following additional information regarding this problem:
- The problem is still present in Hard Heron (8.04)
- The problem also affects molecules when run standalone and -root
- The problem still occurs when run with option "ForcePCIMode " "true" in X configuration.
- the X log file contains the following confirming (?) the ForcePCIMode option:
- My lspci -nn output is:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Rage 128 Pro Ultra TF [1002:5446]
- There are other duplicate reports of this bug, some recent, (#231949, #190580, #72672, #72942)
- I attach my xorg.conf
This problem is pretty ripe by now, will somebody please fix it?

Selecting the Molecule screensaver freezes my PC completely. It says Creating molecule or something like that, but it stays there, fully unresponsive to any keyboard input, and I can't click the Force Quit button either. Happens every time I try to select it, requires me to hard reset.
