What video card do you have?
Did you do a clean install of Ubuntu 9.10 or did you upgrade from 9.04?

Hi. My graphics card is an Intel Graphics Accelerator 500 (GMA 500). I installed Ubuntu 9.04 with Wubi for a short time but without the video driver and I have not encountered problems.

I'm sorry, I forgot to say that I performed a clean install of Ubuntu 9.10 and after I installed the video drivers and they work perfectly with the kernel 2.6.31-14. With kernel 2.6.31-16, Ubuntu can only be started in low graphics mode (in the post above there is a link to the feedback)
