Hi gang65,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

It build, install and works perfectly.

It removed many bugs and add new chipsets support (VX800)

I have tested this openchrome driver for about one month, without any problems.

Unfortunately, by the SRU team's policy it's not allowed to update an entire driver version in a stable release, only cherrypick fixes for specific bugs, and only after extensive testing.

However, I know it sucks when the driver in the distro is busted and a newer release works but isn't available. So as a way to solve these sorts of problems, I've established a PPA for getting new stable versions of various drivers and added 713 there:

Hi Bryce.

The serious problem with System hangup still exist in Ubuntu 8.10.

Please see at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-openchrome/+bug/361611

also another problem with cursor (its not apear on the screen), and problem with image scale:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/217908

So maybe do some backport of the latest driver to Intrepid?

Good news! I just tested Ubuntu 9.04 release - it's didn't hangups!. Still, openchore driver says "I'll not work with this one video". Xorg log can be supplied, if needed. This bug report can be closed.
