Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
Heron alpha-6 fails to install on a Intel PC with VIA chip set. lspci partial outputs below, lsmod and dmesg (attached).
This is similar to bug #178575 but unlike that bug I have no problems installing 7.10.
With Hardy Heron Alpha 6, the Live CD (Desktop) boots fine and installation proceeds with out issues. On reboot into the new system, no driver is loaded, X11 complains about not finding any screen. /proc/interrupts doesnt even show the graphics card.
I went back to 7.10, which seems to use the via_agp driver. I could re-install alpha-6 on a different drive if some one requires more information or testing. We want to use 8.04 in our production environment so its a problem I would like to see fixed.
Thanks
Gertjan

Here X11 does not fail, but, when I open an OpenGL application, it does not work well, as showed in the attached screenshot. OpenGL works fine in Gutsy.
