2009-01-05 09:52:12 Timo Aaltonen xorg: statusexplanation guys, the original bug report was with nvidia, and those who are plugging it to a laptop should not be interested in this bug. The monitor uses the same resolution as the panel on the laptop by default, so there's nothing unusual about it. You just need _not_ to use cloned mode, but then you also might lose acceleration because of hardware limitations.

2009-01-12 22:42:52 Bryce Harrington description Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 as of Monday March 17 at 4:37pm The Samsung 206BW monitor is not detected properly. My monitor is connected via the DVI interface and the video card is an 6600GT with dual DVI digital outputs. The monitor runs in digital mode. I installed Hardy 8.04 via mini.iso dated 10-Mar-2008 18:03 9.5M at this location: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/mini.iso The monitor simply shows up as a genric monitor and does not support the native resolution of 1680x1050@60. When trying to correct this via screens&graphics and then selecting the monitor Samsung 206BWDigital and ticking the widescreen box then program says to logout before changes will take affect. But the monitor is still not able to display at 1680x1050@60. Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 as of Monday March 17 at 4:37pm The Samsung 206BW monitor is not detected properly.
