Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
With my new laptop (HP Pavillion dv9657em) I get limited display with Gutsy it seems to work from the GDM login onward (ie No splash screens). However in Hardy this has gone one step further I get no display at all, that includes terminals (Ctrl+Alt+Fx). This issue remains the same with Gutsy after installing the nvidia driver.
Hardy can be installed on the system using the Alternative cd (which is viewable) however with no display it makes everything else tricky. I'm thinking of reinstalling via the Alt cd and then trying Ctrl-Alt-F1 and loging in and installing nvidia see if that works and also openssh-server so I can access it via a machine that works.
Below is a link to the spec of the machine.

If you need other info then we'll have to see if I can get openssh-server installed :)

Are you referring to the binary nvidia driver? The open source driver should work for your laptop, but there could be other issues if the livecd is not able to start X.
