Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

OO 3.01 on ubuntu 9.04 (from ubuntu repositories; openoffice.org-impress 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3) flickers improperly on the "Cover Down" transition. The Cover down does not work as it should. This holds both at home and at work, with two different video cards.

I have now checked out the problem with one other Windows 2000 machine, and one XP machine. A problem appears in showing slide shows with both OOo 3.0.1 and 3.1 on Windows. In OOo 3.1 on XP, the slide transition Box Out uses the preceding slide to produce Box Out, and then when it is done shifts suddenly to the next slide. Wipes in 3.0.1 and 3.1 will show a dark rectangle that wipes, rather than the actual positive content that is supposed to show. At the end of the wipe animation, the new positive content will finally show up suddenly.

It is possible that this has something to do with my video cards, but we are dealing with several video cards on several machines. The phenomena are similar.

I see what the problem is now and I think it is a bug in ooo-build. It works with official OOo 3.1.0 and dev300 m49 but not with ooo-build.

Thanks,

 Dear Christopher Penalver,

I currently have LibreOffice 3.3.2, OOO330m19 (Build:202)
tag libreoffice-3.3.2.2, Ubuntu package 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5, installed over ubuntu 11.04.

CoverDown still does not work. It is as described below. It flickers with the preceding slide, and then makes a sudden jump to the next slide.

Yours,
Vern Poythress

work, but not properly.

There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.

The bug persists in LibreOffice 3.5.2 no a Thinkpad notebook running Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 LTS. It is reproduced with the ODP file attached to #2.

Might the problem be related to an issure with the graphics driver? I have an integrated Intel Mobile GM965/GL960 graphics controller, OpenGL and 3D acceleration are working without problems.

Does work on both machines when run on Windows XP, LibreOffice 3.5.3.2.

Dear Christopher Penalver,

I am now in ubuntu 12.04 (newly installed). I ran apport-collect 384913, and it did call up launchpad. But in the terminal it also says, "Package libreoffice not installed and no hook available, ignoring." Well, libreoffice is installed, so I don't know why the terminal has this response.

Anyway, I tried running libreoffice impress (3.5.2), and it still shows the same problem with Cover Down. I'll try to use recordmydesktop. And I'll send a copy of the .odp file I'm using that shows the problem (but the problem is general to Cover Down, not just to this file).

Vern Poythress, this looks like a driver issue, so I'm going to kick it over to the xorg team. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal (this time it should work):
