Bug Description

There's a moderate chance this is a duplicate of #1723245, but the lead-up to the hang was different: I noticed some visual artifacting (perhaps isolated to my Chromium window, but I don't remember for sure). I could still move the mouse, and tried closing the current tab. Shortly thereafter, the UI entirely stopped responding, but SSH was fine. The syslog contained recent messages like this:
