Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Sometimes getting "melting snow" effect on screen before login screen.
in dmesg:

Also getting flickering trash in new pop-up windows while its opening in classic gnome desktop mode. Opening same pop-up again looks fine.

crashed in "ubuntu classic (no effects)" as well which I find weird. Was using terminal programs and a firefox at the time so it shouldn't stress the GPU much.

@JFo, please add this one to the kernel team's list. This is a pretty serious bug that a lot of people are seeing, but upstream thinks the attached patch will help.

So next action is probably to roll a kernel with this fix for folks to test.
