Framebuffer (kernel bootflag) locks up X after hibernate

Bug Description

Hardware: Laptop, HP/Compaq nx6110, Intel chipset, Broadcom wlan
Software: Ubuntu Dapper, 2.6.15-27-686 kernel

When I start the system with the "vga=xxx" bootflag my X and terminals work. I've tested 800*600 and 1024*768, both at 16 bit. I can also use X and the terminals, as long as I do not use hibernate.
After I use hibernation (without X) everything is fine. When I use/start X, X keeps on restarting and it locks-up my entire system. All I can do is press the power button (hard-off).

edit: Note: I *think* the same thing happens when I change my MAC address

I think this might be X related, as it comes out of suspend properly and X crashes the system.

Also, please confirm the MAC change bit.

fresh boot -> change MAC -> hibernate -> return from hiberation (works). I return from hibernation with my original MAC, so my manually changed MACaddress is lost. When I try to change my MACaddress once again (after hibernation), my system locks up.
Note: This also happens when X is turned off.

The MAC thing is a separate issue from the X one, please file it on linux-source-2.6.19.
