This is the same system and configuration as bug 656243, and so may have the same root cause (but I can't tell)

Yeah, looks quite similar to 626967; there were a lot of reports of that issue on maverick. I think it's largely sorted out in natty so worth retesting. It was apparently fixed by this commit:

(In maverick, it's a bit harder to analyze gpu lockups because apport used to overwrite dmesg and xorg logs with ones captured at time of *filing* rather than the time *captured*. That issue has been fixed in apport now, which has made freezes in natty much more tractable to diagnose. But... I think this issue is likely to have been a dupe of the above one.)
