Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
I am having troubles getting my external monitor to work with my laptop. In particular I am having problems getting the correct aspect ratio.
I have always had problems with this particular monitor, and I have corrected by mucking with the xorg.conf file, however, the xorg.conf file that I have been using for the last couple versions, and with my old laptop is not working with 10.10 and my new laptop.
My goal is to have the second monitor setup with 1440x900

I've found adding a line to xorg.conf to set a virtual desktop space to encompass a 1024x768 and 1440x900 monitor in an effort to cope with bug #635827 prevents the xserver from starting. If you comment out lines beginning with Virtual in the "Display" subsections, will X start for you? (though this will not give you continuous dual monitors)
