It looks like you have the proprietary nVidia driver installed, and this is causing the problem. Do you have any idea why the nVidia driver would be installed?

=== Maverick ===
[ 36.539] (II) LoadModule: "glx"
[ 36.539] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/extra-modules/libglx.so
[ 37.334] (II) Module glx: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation"

[ 37.334] (II) NVIDIA GLX Module 195.36.24 Thu Apr 22 19:52:00 PDT 2010
[ 37.350] (II) Loading extension GLX

=== Lucid ===
(II) LoadModule: "glx"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so
(II) Module glx: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
 compiled for 1.7.5, module version = 1.0.0
 ABI class: X.Org Server Extension, version 2.0
(==) AIGLX enabled
(II) Loading extension GLX

If you apt-get remove nvidia-current, does the correct libglx.so from /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so load?

Hello, I'm closing this as invalid because it is caused by having the nvidia drivers installed which replaces the glx libs used by intel and is not expected to work, and we haven't heard back in some time regarding the issue. If after removing the nvidia drivers it is still a problem please reopen the bug, thanks!

I'm not convinced this is invalid. The bug isn't against this package, but I just upgraded from Lucid to Maverick and was hit by the nvidia stuff being installed in the process of the upgrade.

There's a bug somewhere in the upgrade process (at least when run from aptitude) that is causing the nvidia stuff to be pulled in and in the process killing the other graphic chipsets.

I had the same problem six months ago, when I was upgrading to Lucid -> https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/573499
Now again. I hope, this gets fixed for the next release.

I had the same thing with a GM45 (according to the Xorg log). I'm not sure whether the nvidia driver appeared during or after the upgrade to Maverick. Removing nvidia-current fixed GL.
