2048 X 1536 - Works
1920 X 1440 - Works
1856 X 1392 - Works
1792 X 1344 - Works
1920 X 1200 - Works
1600 X 1200 - Works
1680 X 1050 - Works
1600 X 1024 - Doesn't work - very faint with uneven brightness and color
1400 X 1050 - Works
1280 X 1024 - Works
1440 X 900 - Works
1280 X 960 - Works
1360 X 768 - Works
1280 X 800 - Works
1152 X 864 - Works
1280 X 768 - Works
1024 X 768 - Doesn't work - only faint flashes
832 X 624 - Works
800 X 600 - Works
There are a number of even smaller options I didn't test.

Confirmed this is still a problem on maverick, even with the mesa update from sarvatt/mesa PPA.

While i865 is supported on Lucid still, it's not on newer versions of Ubuntu, and so we're not going to be backporting patches for it (except in extraordinarily rare situations where there is a "perfect patch".) We've found that 8xx is fairly fragile and so a patch that fixes an issue on one 8xx card can have a high risk of breaking some other slight variant of the same card.
