Did anything funny happen when you ran `apport-collect 520925`? Normally there would be many more uploaded files for an xorg-bug.

nothing funny :) :) :) I want 1152*864 :'(

Geir Ove Myhr (gomyhr) wrote :

We will need the logs uploaded manually, then. We would need:
- /etc/X11/xorg.conf (or confirm that it doesn't exist)
- / var/log/Xorg.0.log
- The file generated by the command `lspci -vvnn > lspci.txt`
- The file generated by the command `dmesg >dmesg.txt`
- The file generated by the command `xrandr --verbose >xrandr.txt`

Please attach the files as separate attachments to this bug report.

I see you are using the xorg-edgers PPA and the 2.6.33-rc5 kernel. Can you confirm that the problem also happens with standard Lucid?

[Problem]
Monitor supports 1152x864, but this resolution is not available through xrandr. Not sure if this is due to bad EDID (so it would need an EDID quirk) or if the driver is interpreting it wrong.

[Original report]

My monitor samtron 56v supports 1152*864
but I cant set that resolution

In display preferences ... ( system -> preferences -? Display preference )
It shows as unknown monitor
I can get 1024*768 resolution
In windows XP I can have 1152*864

i have intel 810 motherboard and intel 82810E display

Ubuntu 9.10 (now I have updated to pre release of 10.04)

Xorg.0.log shows:
(II) intel(0): Not using driver mode "1152x864" (mode clock too high)

I have forwarded your bug report upstream at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26561 . Please register at bugs.freedesktop.org and add yourself to the CC field so that you may answer any questions the developers might have.

Also, you may have some luck trying the updated 2.6.33-rc8 kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D instead of the -rc5 you already have. Please let us know if this changes anything (preferably with a comment in the upstream report).

Good. You also need to add yourself to the CC field of the bug in order to receive the updates (same concept as subscribing to a bug report in Launchpad). If you are logged in when you view https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26561 there is a check box right below the comment field that you can check and the click on the commit button.

There's nothing more we can do from Ubuntu, this is now in the hands of the developers upstream.

Have you tried manually adding a reduced blanking modeline to xorg.conf?

Modeline "1152x864R" 69.75 1152 1200 1232 1312 864 867 871 889 +hsync -vsync

Can you manually create a working modeline using xrandr for the 1152x864 mode?

Yakui, can you take a look? Maybe we just need another hsync quirk or something for this mode.

Geir Ove Myhr (gomyhr) wrote :

Dhinakar, please test Robert's suggestion. If it does not work, we can try to find out which mode Windows is using and try to use that. Upstream also want to know what is working.

Both cant help,,,
I tried it manytimes,,,
One time, the display crashed at startup and in all other times I cant even apply them and it says " Selected configuration for display could not be applied"

This is actually an xserver bug. KMS rounds up the pixel clock limit based on all modes found in EDID; X only does so for detailed timings.

Is this still an issue?

Dhinakar, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
