description |
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Bug showed up in 9.04, never resolved. Using 9.10 (beta) right now and bug is still there, identical results. Using 64 bit version, with standard recognized xserver-xorg-video-intel driver for onboard intel 945g graphics driving a Viewsonic G810 21" VGA monitor. On other OSs, ideal resolution is 1280x960@85hz. This option is not offered in System>Prefs>Display. Closest to this are 1280x1024@75 (5:4, scrunched) and 1152x864@75 (whole screen is off to right side). Have tried Synaptic PM to find updated intel 950 driver, have tried messing with xorg.conf files, all with no results or change. In fact, the only refresh rates offered are 60 or 75hz, and they are locked to various resolutions, but none are ideal or even usable. Again, earlier drivers/kernels appeared to work - ex., 8.04 with a little tweaking gave great results with intel gma 950. Starting with 9.04, all heck broke loose.
Synaptic PM reports driver as xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.8.1-1ubuntu2
