It doesn't work but it doesn't matter, adding acpi_brightness=vendor kernel parameter works for me but not for all laptop models so some people may have to try to find another workaround for this problem.

Thank you Rui for all your effort on solving this bug, many video driver bugs were bugging me for months but now all of them are fixed and this bug which is the only one left is no showstopper, performance and stability are great with 2.6.31 kernel.
