Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Hello,

I recently installed kUbuntu 9.04 alpha 4 and when using desktop effects they work really slow and must of the time KDE just turn them off in order to increase performance.

If you want more details, just give me instructions, and I will follow them.

I only know that I run kubuntu 9.04 alpha 4 on Lenovo 3000 N100, with Intel graphic card (don't know what type).

I just want to point that when I use Ubuntu 8.04.2 (Gnome) on the same laptop, with Desktop Effects working on "Normal", I almost never encounter problems (my main workspace is Ubuntu 8.04.2).

This does not seem to be just a KDE Problem, compiz is just as slow. Moving windows works well, but opening/closing/minimizing/restoring lags horribly (half a second or more). Animations of any kind are unusable.

Compositing on the same Hardware worked very well in Intrepid. I've been going through Xorg.log and syslog, but found nothing helpful.
