underrun on pipe B

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Hi,

I just upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid and have xserver-xorg-video-intel version 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu1 installed.

I see the following error in Xorg.0.log:

(EE) intel(0): overrun on pipe B!

The symptoms I can see are:
- when loading gdm, the screen flickers and displays horizontal black lines
- everytime I launch an app once logged in, the screen flickers
- may not be related, but Compiz does not work anymore (used to in Hardy)

My video card is an integrated Intel 945GM card.

Trying Option "ForceEnablePipeA" "True" makes things even worse... See log file atteched. Does NOT correct the flickering problem.

You're the second person I've seen with this problem today. It appears in a log file attached to another bug report (bug 262395).

Could you please attach your /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and then I will set this to confirmed.

I have actually no /etc/X11/xorg.conf file... I thought it is not necessary anymore... (true, isn't it ?)

But I tried "ForceEnablePipeA" option based on the one that is attached here.

Just a comment to say I could reactivate desktop-effects / compiz (don't know why it works again).

So compiz problem was definitely not related.

Just changed bug short description: error message is _underrun_ on pipe B, not overrun !
