Bug Description

After going through various forums it looks that the intel 965 graphic chip is not full supported under Ubuntu yes. X.Org X server -- Intel i8xx, i9xx display driver installed. The problem is that whenever I try to run a 3D application like google earth of flightgear the screen turn black and I get logged out. Compiz works fine except the video mode. The G965 chipset is blacklisted by compiz.
2 problem with this chip set. Unfortunately this chipset is used in more and more computers and laptops here in India. It would help to get this chip set supported.

Google Earth was fine on the same computer under Feisty 32 bit. I am running now Gutsy 64 bit.

Could you please recheck the issue with Hardy Final installation or Live CD? If you use 3D apps it is generally a good idea to disable compiz.
If it doesn't work please attach the files /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old directly after logout and login.
