Computer: Acer Aspire 5610Z laptop
OS: Ubuntu 7.10 with all updates
Graphics: Intel

People on pictures and movies were unnaturally fat and short.
I downloaded a package from APT, called 915resolution, to give me the correct resolution: 1280x800.
This worked fine.
If I press Ctrl Alt F1 to go to terminal (works fine), and then go back to Gnome using Ctrl Alt F7, a problem occurs.
It now uses this resolution: 1400x1050.
I can not turn it back to 1280x800 using the "Screen and Graphics" utilities.
The resolution I want is in the list, but pressing OK doesn't change anything.
Has this got anything to do with the 915resolution package?

Control-alt-backspace restarts X, and it works like it should again. So it's not critical, only ANNOYING. I'm sure the fix is simple, but I am such a n00b.

When the computer uses 1400x1050, the desktop works like an old Amiga side scrolling game.
The entire desktop follows the mouse smoothly. If I move the mouse to one corner, the desktop will move so this corner shows up on the screen. The oposite end of the wallpaper is beyond the limits of the LCD panel.
