Browse to wired.com any article with a series of photos. Upon clicking next the intel graphics adapter crashes and the screen goes blank. Computer is still responsive I just can't see anything. Usually shut down by hitting power button and then enter.

Has happened several times easily reproducible.

Happened to me too after the latest updates (including kernel 3.13.0-37-generic (buildd@comet) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #64~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 24 21:39:43 UTC 2014). Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS, on Toshiba L-300 and Chrome 38.0.2125.104.

This one happened while watching a video from youtube, but happened also earlier while playing browser games on humblebundle.com's Mozilla bundle page.

Update to my comment above: that wired.com part does not affect me - no problem browsing photos there. While watching video or playing game screen goes completely blank, but I can still hear the sound.

Also happening on the following:

- Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon x64
- Chrome 38.0.2125.104 (64-bit)
- Dell Latitude D620

Logs attached.

Possible to crash up demand simply by browsing in chrome to https://chrome.google.com/webstore

Chris Hall (chall32) wrote :

Xorg log also

Chris Hall (chall32) wrote :

dmesg file attached

The file /sys/class/drm/card0/error is empty, so no point in attaching that too

I also have this error on my HP Compaq 6720s, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, linux-image-3.13.0-39-generic
When I start to watch video on youtube the screen becomes black but sound continues to play.

Andrey Bachmaga (lordakryl) wrote :

And same bug on Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS (same Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop as above), while playing youtube video in Google Chrome (Mozilla Firefox is fine on the same video).

I can reproduce this on a HP 6910p Intel 965 with Ubuntu 14.04. Workaround for me is to use UXA acceleration method instead of SNA.

Create /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf and add:

Section "Device"
   Identifier "Intel Graphics"
   Driver "intel"
   Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection

I can reproduce this on Intel 915 Mobo running Ubuntu 14.04.1 with Chrome. I dont see this issue with firefox.

Is there any fix / workaround for this intel DRI issue?

This bug also affects Dell XPS M1330 with Intel graphics running Mint 17.1 64-bit.
