800x600
640x480

my monitor supports a lots of resolutions the max aviable it's 1920x1080

i even tried ctv 1920 1080 60 ; xrandr --newmode bla bla bla ; xrandr --addmode bla bla bla

i have tried to reinstall but it seems the latest driver in the repository has messed up things

Can you please rollback the kernel and grab the EDID and the boot dmesg for both kernels with drm.debug=6 appended to the kernel command line?

Yes, clear GMBUS failure. It at a random point in the xfer it fails to keep sending bits - but as it is not an outright failure we think it worked (and so do not fallback to the old method). Are you willing to run test kernels (i.e. compile a kernel from scratch after applying patches)? It would be good to file an upstream regression report at bugs.freedesktop.org as well (Product DRM, Component DRM/Intel).

nowardev, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
