I think this is the actual log from the crash. Each crash is associated with the following dmesg log:

bryce suggested I disable nouveau driver and see if that made a difference - it does not.

Ultimately the answer will be not to use that broken kernel. But in the meantime, if you can get that stacktrace parsed I can see where I'm mishandling the fallback.

Actually as it is a SIGBUS not SIGSEGV, the issue lies entirely within the 3.2 kernel.

As far as I can tell I am using the standard raring kernel - is there a new kernel coming that fixes this?

The log files say that you are running with kernel v3.2, raring is on v3.8...

Oh ack. It appears the metapackage got removed in some dist-upgrade. Confirmed fixed in 3.8.
