Bug Description

After a fresh install of 12.04.1 and an upgrade to 12.10 I am experiencing a bug where the display is corrupted/flickering; colors are non-existent and part of the screen is cut off. I am able to work around the problem by suspending the laptop and then resuming it. I googled this problem and it appears that others are experiencing it with different laptops. It may very well be the problem described in detail here:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=690198

If I boot into the 12.10 installer I get the very same issue. However, booting into the 12.04.1 installer everything works as it should (no display corruption). I am willing to test out any suggested fixes.

Definitely not a duplicate. The problem with graphics on the Acer Aspire S5 is complete corruption. The entire display is blurry static/garbage (unusable) until you sleep then wake it back up.

Having said that, I tried the latest 3.7 kernel (the .deb packages) and the problem is fixed. I can't use that kernel permanently though since the wifi won't work with it. So I'm anxiously awaiting a 3.7 kernel to show up in the backports repo.
