I have installed the latest stable versions of xlibmesa-gl, xlibmesa-dri, xserver-xorg-driver-i810 and xserver-xorg. The only reason I could think of that might be causing an error is that I am using the 915resolution package to patch the 1024x768 mode in the i915's BIOS to run at 1152x864. But this mode works fine for normal X usage and works with 3d acceleration in Windows.
