Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-displaylink

Hello,

we have an USB-to-DVI Graphic adapter (Model WS-UGA12D1 from Winstar) with DisplayLink Chip and have installed it according to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9358565 (we have 10.04 LTS with all updates, too). Sometimes it works fine, but sometimes X.org don't start. Then, in xorg.0.conf is written:

...
(II) DL(0): using /dev/fb1
(EE) DL(0): Unknown EDID version 0
(**) DL(0): Depth 16, (--) framebuffer bpp 16

(==) DL(0): Using gamma correction (1.0, 1.0, 1.0)
(II) DL(0): hardware: WS Tech USB-DVI (video memory: 2560kB)

I think that this is an EDID error. The intel-driver has an option which can disable EDID. However, I didn't find such a option for the displaylink-driver.

Has anybody a workaround or a solution for this problem?

If you have further questions, please contact me. Thanks in advance.

Regards, Henning

Same thing happens for me. I have my device with DL-125 chip, and it says that the raw EDID is invalid.
