Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

version 1:6.6-3-2ubuntu3 on feisty

only vesa driver works for a AGP X1650. "ati" driver crashes the xserver stating that a device was not found at PCI 1:0:1. This is a card with dual outputs. and lspci lists both 1:0:0 and 1:0:1 as being occupied by my ati card.

fglrx driver loads but results in bizzare video corruption. Basically parts of the screen wont redraw properly. Completely unusable. Also if I do try to use it the machine hard locks after a few minutes. the cursor will move but that is it. ctrl-alt-del or backspace do not work. I have to hard reset.

This is on a system with a SIS northbridge.
