Bug Description

Using the Edgy live CD, I get a poor selection of resolutions, with the following as the least bad choice:
 SZ: Pixels Physical Refresh
*0 1024 x 768 ( 361mm x 271mm ) *60

On the currently running Dapper system, I'm running with:
 SZ: Pixels Physical Refresh
*0 1600 x 1200 ( 363mm x 272mm ) *85 75 70 65 60

Having to run at 1024x768@60Hz is a showstopper for me to upgrade to Edgy.

Will attach information from both Dapper and Edgy with the output from xrandr, xdpyinfo and from Xorg's /proc/PID/maps file.

I tried the workaround described in bug 61390, and that worked. Marking as dup.
