Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Starting at the loading screen at boot, and continuing until shutdown: the screen flickers horizontally and occasionally "jumps".

Adding radeon.new_pll=0 to the kernel command line solves the issue.

I am affected by this problem too, but with an ATI Radeon Mobility X1400 (RV515).
Adding radeon.new_pll=0 to the kernel command line solves the issue (or passing new_pll=0 to the "radeon" kernel module).

Please tell me if you need more details, or if I need to make a separate bug report.

Aurélien Begel: Please file a new bug by running ubuntu-bug linux so we can have all of the info. If you don't mind, add the tag needs-pll-quirk to it as well after you file it. Thanks!

I've built a test kernel with Robert Hooker's patch on top of the Lucid tip, please test it and see if it resolves the problem.

The kernels are here:

Same issue - Radeon Mobility X1400 on an ASUS A6j series running ubuntu lucid

Adding radeon.new_pll=0 allowed an usable system but minor flickering on the right side while scrolling on fullscreen windows remains.

Hi,

got the same problem with lucid beta 1 as of 04.04.2010.

Adding radeon.new_pll=0 to kernel options solved this as it seems.

System is a Thinkpad R60 with Radeon Mobility X1400.

the flickering on the right side remains with kernel 2.6.34rc1 BUT it goes away changing the resolution to 1200x780 (instead of 1200x800, which I've *always* used)
