[M6-LY] garbage instead of kwin and plasma elements when using XAA

Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
as the title says
it happens on karmic alpha6, liveCD and installed system too (fully upgraded)
16 or 24 bit depth doesn't matter
by default, the card uses XAA. if I set it to EXA through xorg.conf, kwin window decoration and plasma are fine too
there are some garbage around fonts though
card is
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M6 LY [1002:4c59]
i think it's important, becouse, as for now, people with this card can hardly use the kubuntu live CD (actually the install works, but the whole thing doesn't look good)
