Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-driver-ati

Hello i'm running Ubuntu Jaunty updated today (18 feb 2009)
If I run the command glxinfo it crashed

gldamnick@damnick-nb:~$ glxinfo
name of display: :0.0
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

and if I examined /var/log/Xorg.0.log
it says

ah the problem is : Video Ok but no compiz/aiglx/gl

my video card is an ati mobility radeon X600 on toshiba laptop

Thanks for your report. This could be an intermittent upgrade issue. Is this i386 or amd64?

i386.... but I have tried to install the fglrx driver.... I Investigate more and then report...

The ATI proprietary driver (fglrx) doesn't work until fixed by AMD/ATI.

The workaround is to manually purge fglrx
$ apt-get remove --purge fglrx*

I mark it as a dupe of Bug #313027.
