The ati driver should support your card, so please attach the output of lspci -nn.

Hello.

I boot final live cd of ubuntu 8.04 with vesa support (secure graphics mode) and the computer go on well. But, if I boot live cd without parameters, in the screen view ¡ghost!, not black, and I ear the gnome welcome sound. If I press control-alt-backspace the same happens.

I send output of lspci -nn y xorg.conf of the first case. Excuse my english

vladf, your system uses a completely different graphics card than chemamartin, could you please file a new bug on it (and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log too).

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. In the development cycle for Intrepid there have been some vast improvements in the open source ati video driver and we could use your help testing them. Could you please download the latest Alpha CD image of Intrepid and test this particular bug just using the Live CD? You can find the latest image at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . Your testing can help make Ubuntu and the open source ati driver even better! Thanks in advance.

Well, I downloaded intrepid alpha 4 and I installed on my computer, Acer Extensa 7620G with the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics card. When the computer start the X session system works well, except that with this driver does not work compiz. I think that is normal because the driver has no 3D acceleration today. During the beginning of Ubuntu curious thing happens: sometimes correctly and sometimes boots are white squares on a red background when it starts. In this second case, the X session works perfectly but do not work consoles Ctrl + Alt + Fx (consoles text). It happens sometimes.
  Adding this file Xorg.log

Greetings
the home screen with a red background does not occur ever. It seems that the pattern is one normall starter and then one with the red background. As I do not how to make the screenshot on boot without using virtualbox I have done photos. I hope you serve. I am sending 4 photos, the first 3 screenshots with the boot and the fourth in a console text when he booted badly.

The information that you've added to this bug report leads me to believe that this is not a bug with xserver-xorg-video-ati and isn't the same bug as the one this report is about. However, this seems really important and we'd like to get it resolved. So if you could submit a new bug report with the pictures and subscribe me to it that would be great! Thanks in advance.
