Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
I've been running gutsy on my laptop for a while. This morning, a large chunk of updates came down. When I rebooted, my laptop screen had a thin (1px-2px) gray line horizontally down the middle of the screen. Also, Two large vertical bars of solid color appeared, one on the left side of the screen and another just right of center on the screen. The color tends to be what the dominant color on the screen is (brown on the login screen, white while in GNOME).
If I use xrandr to put the screen in a lower resolution, the bars disappear. If I put the resolution back, the bars appear again.
The bars do not show up I take a screen shot of the desktop.
This is a Dell Inspiron 600m with an ATi Radeon Mobility 9000. 1400x1050 is the resolution that causes the bars. Running in 1280x800 or 1024x768 does not cause the bars.
I even reconfigured Xorg (sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg) and the generated xorg.conf file has the same issues.
Please test 6.7.195 when it is available, or in the meantime you could try 1ubuntu1tja2 from here:
